ETA: If I were to hatch a Blue Barred cockerel, would you want him Cheryl?

I think so! hmmm I may need a hen? Have to look at the genetics again

What are you trying to do?

I just candled 4 of my own Blue Wheaten eggs that I put in the incubator on the 6th... 2 of the eggs are showing major signs of development- veins, black blobs taking up a lot of the inside of the egg and they were heavy, you could feel the babies growing! The other two eggs didn't appear to be developing, it looked as if they might of quit early on. Still, that's two possible babies, I'm stoked!

The one Blue Wheaten Ameraucana X Buff Laced Polish egg unfortunately was clear.

I candled my 55 eggs on day 7, which was sunday and 49 of them were keepers!

This is my first hatch with my new homemade incubator so I am pretty happy with that. 4 of the 6 that I removed were non-starters so probably weren't fertile to start with and a few more did not look as developed as they should have but I left them in anyway since they did have vein development. I'm concerned though because my thermostat was acting up for 2 whole days and giving me spikes and dips.

I hope they are still ok!

I ordered a better thermostat that holds temps within 10ths of a degree and of course, as soon as I spent the money, the one I have started behaving again.

Oh well the new one will give me peace of mind and it should be here in a couple more days.

Hope the rest of your babies make it Jeremy!!!

Anybody else hatching?

I'm happy for you! I'm craving baby chicks!

These could be yours! I don't plan on keeping any of the chicks that hatch, this incubation was to test fertility only.
