Bay Area BYCers!

Thank you, Dawn! LOL about your dominant girl! I would have loved to see her put the boys in their place! Our dominant bird is a hatchery BA named Precious.

My 9 year old calls her Devil! We can't have a roo but Precious does a great job of watching over the flock. She is the one who sounds the alarm whenever danger is near and has even stood between the other birds and the neighbor's cat. I love her for that but DD gets upset when she picks on the other birds. She has never drawn blood and the others have learned to give her her space. Here are a couple pics of our "Precious":

Very much so. He looks like an English gentleman. I'm thinking Mr. Rochester, though he really wasn't a gentleman

Nor did he have a harem, just the two ladies... "Feedle-dee-dee-dee-dee!"

Hey Jeremy! Can I come meet your ladies some time? I'm really curious about your setup, too.

Hi fellow sf-baynians!

I'm just checking in and saying ohai.

I'm here in the south bay, and since we're having such a warm afternoon, i've just put my 4 week old EE chicks outside to discover the joys of the great outdoors. in a 4x4 ft bottomless cage. The cat is standing guard. The 2 hens are trying to peck the feathers off the chicks, and then they try and peck the cat. The cat has given up. I'm sure it's a stress free experience for all.

hope everyone is having a good day

Mostly his tail but Poppy's head looks a little different too. He has a tuft of fluff that I wish weren't there at the base of his tail and He is jet black with a beetle green sheen but Bubba may be also. Sometimes pics don't show the colors well.

Here's a pic from a couple of months back.

Yes, Bubba does have the sheen at times, it is difficult to get it on camera. Do you guys know if Bubba is show quality? I have no idea what to look for.

Good stuff here. Watch out for this bunch...you'll be building a bigger coop, buying an incubator and breeding before you know it.

I really have to agree with that one. I started out with 4 pullets, but since I saw all the pretty breeds on BYC I now have six (hopefully) going on seven.
