That is something we
definitely plan on doing, as well as covering the runs with some sort of netting. This is the second time we've had a bird jump into the creek, the first was a Delaware who decided it was a good place to lay her egg... luckily it was pretty dry then...
As upset as I was when it was happening, I laugh now, too.
I mean... I jumped in a rushing creek to run after a chicken without a second thought or single moments hesitation.
What a close call, Jeremy! So glad that both of you are okay after that experience! Had to laugh at you rushing in to save her without a single thought for yourself (except for your shoes & phone
). I thought the same thing about myself the other day when we drove in all that rain to pick up our three little silvers. I told my daughters that I couldn't believe that we were risking our lives driving in the horrible traffic and rain just to pick up chickens! But, I would do it again in a heartbeat!
Debi, did you catch the last part at the end about me having a chick for you?
I was in a pretty panicked mind set as I saw her being washed away but I remembered that shoes in the water (at least in my experience) slow you down and my phone would be really expensive to replace (with money that I currently have spent on chicks, so...
) so I knew I had to toss that on the ground before taking "the plunge".
I'm glad you and your girls made it home safely, I hope they are enjoying their new babies! I really LOVE my Silver chicks, they are too cute.
kelseygirl707, I want an Emu so bad! Jealous!
