This is my lone Pene girl, Frannie. I think she has fluff for brains, she gets spooked really easily and walks around like she has no idea where she's at all the time.

But I love her.

So! My Ameraucana hen hatched 3 OE eggs that she was sitting on, plus I slipped chicks from the incubator underneath her. She also incubated two of my sex linked EE eggs and they both hatched as well.

That puts 7 little peeps underneath momma tonight. One is a Splash OE, there is one I think is a dark blue and 3 that I think are black? They could be darker blue, too. One of the darker chicks is a red head!

This is Thelma, my only Black English Orpington. I tell her she's "big boned" when the other chickens make fun of her size.

Two of my Blues, I love when they dust bathe, they turn into blue balls o' fluff and make craters in the yard!

Oh! We also have Hummers who have built a nest in our yard!

I would advise against Fisherman's Warf proper (it's a depressing clutter of discount souvenir shops and C-list tourist attractions) but would advise seeing Aquatic Park & Ghirardelli Square. The Marina is also quite beautiful, with views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. From there, you can go to the Palace of Fine Arts.

It's fun to ride the F Line antique streetcars - they take you all the way from the Castro to the dreaded Fisherman's Warf: http://www.streetcar.org/

I always send people to the cliff house.

Jeremy the first nest and momma I saw like that were in a friends Hybiscus. I didn't even know what I was looking at and then the beak moved. LOL I really need better eyes.

I'm kind of lost right now. I usually have a hatch on the weekends, but I sold eggs and donated some and didn't set any for me. I have no new babies coming until the 21st! Bad part is I'll be in Brentwood the 21st and 22nd.

Trying to make up for the void by setting more eggs from my birds and ordering eggs. LOL

Machanic called about my car. I'll be car-less for 2 days while they figure out the problem and then the fun part comes. I got quotes on both problems it could be. I swear I keep saying I'm going to turn it into a lawn ornament, but not having a car??? Not in my neighborhood. Not the kind of place you just take a walk unless you're meeting your connection under a street light.

Hi Folks,

I might have a broody on my hands. It's Bridget, my 1 year old Delaware. I noticed that for the past 2 weeks she has been staying in the nest box for longer periods of time while laying her normal-sized eggs. Today, she was in there for over 4 hours. Then she ranged in a tractor for the afternoon. She seemed to act normally except for some excessive cooing. I gave her access to her coop about 45 minutes before sunset. I noticed she went into the coop a little earlier than normal and when I looked in on her, she was in the nest box. I just checked her again a little while ago, and she's still in the nest box. Does this sound like broodiness?

I will follow gryeyes guideline about treating the hen like a broody if she's spent 2 nights in a row in the nest box. Though I will be out of town tomorrow night, so won't really know. So I guess I'll see if she sleeps in the nest box on Sunday night.

So if I DO have a broody, does anyone have some fertile eggs I can buy? Also, how many eggs should I give her? I don't want too many chicks. Is there a minimum?

And would I have to separate her from the flock? I only have one other hen, and there is another nest box she can use. Ok, I think those are all the questions I have for now.
