Bay Area BYCers!

I'd say you're guesses are right about the last 3, too.

The White is LOVELY! If I had the room (assuming you were to rehome him), I would take him in a heartbeat.

I know...I am sad as he is the super-duper snuggler of the whole AM bunch! The only chick that beats him for snuggliness is my SS pullet who is one week older. Jeesh. He is so, so gorgeous. Here he is preening (with his teenager skin showing through). Drat and double drat.

Help me with the genetics...what is "under" the white? AS in, if I cross a white bird with a silver what do I get? Or if he crossed with a bcm, what would I get?? (besides olive eggers??

Thinking about options...

Jeremy, I am sorry to hear about your friend. Modern internal medicine is amazing. I atomized my spleen snowboarding 3 years ago, they were able to save me when most thought it was a lost cause. I will think good thoughts for your Amiga.

Just picked up my mixed Ameraucana order from Blehm yesterday. 6 Buff, 7 Black, 2 Silver, 1 Blue, and 12 Wheaten. They are all happy and healthy, though the Silvers are noticeably smaller. I will post pics for sexing help now that you are all such pros. The chicks are lively and robust, zooming around in the brooder. Good job, John Blehm.

Jeremy I hope your friend is doing well and I'm so sorry.

The only surviving quail I hatched out a while back left me a present in the brooder this morning (I was affraid to put her in with the older quail) but it's not fertile. I've been moving Popcorn from brooder to brooder and I forgot she was getting to that age. My older ones are in the garage, but wiring here is awful, so not enough light. I wish it was warm enough so they could go outside.

Deb I will be in Brentwood early tomorrow. Don't know if you still have my number, but if you still want to bring the little guy I can meet you. Pm me or give me a call. The party is actually in Pittsburg at 5pm. It's already mostly set up there for a Casino theme. Games, prizes and International buffet. LOL I have to be in Brentwood to work on dipping things in chocolate before I head out there.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm a white roo huh!

It's sad, but I was going to big on some white ones the other day and steveh lost all his birds and had to pull his auction. I wish I has some to send to him. I feel so bad for him.

If anyone else has blue AMs, do they think they're parrots? All my new ones this year come running, fly on my arms, shoulders, my back and my head. Happens every time I go out there to deal with them. OH and I'm pretty sure after I decide whihc ones I'm keeping I will have plenty of blue roos for everyone. Back to last year. One pullet and tons of cockerels and this is out of one hatch and one shipment of chicks. I'm the Queen of roos!

Luke, pictures! We need pictures of those little poofy cheeks! All of mine are "grown" now and fully feathered in... now the long wait until you get that first blue egg starts.

BTW, the Coro eggs are doing great in the bator, temps and humidity are steady.

Dawn, there are 2 different kinds of White. Dominant White and Recessive White. Dom White covers things up and Rec White either is not visibly expressed at all, the bird just carries it genetically OR you will get a White bird with different colored leakage.

Does that make sense?

Also, Jean Ribbeck says there has been some talk of a third kind of white, that genetically breeders don't know what it is. When I posted on the Ameraucana thread that I had gotten a White chick from John Blehm she mentioned this kind of White. I can PM her and see if she knows anything more about it.

Thank you all for your thoughts for Kammie, she did pass away Wednesday afternoon around 2 PM.
