Hi Pamela! Long time no see! How's the baby?

eta - I believe the county does allow chickens. I never looked up the law, but Nifty lives here, and if Nifty say so....

I sell them to people at work, or give them to my mechanic, etc. (not to my hairstylist because he has chickens too). People love fresh eggs!
Mine are $4/dozen or $3 for Bantam eggs.
Enjoy!

That's what I charge, too!! Hard to keep up with the demand once the word gets out, huh?!

Well my grand daughter & I are off to Cheryl's home in Lafayette to pick up chicks & Jeremy is meeting us there with the trio I am buying from him. I am excited. We will be playing musical pens when we get home to house everyone separately but what fun. My new housing should be here in about a week or so then everyone will have their own special spots.
I am looking forward to those new blue eggs.

Do your two legged friends act funny before an earthquake?
I am used to the dogs and horses acting weird before an earthquake, but now my chickens too!

Last night my last batch I have in the brooder wouldnt shut up or calm down, checked on food, water, temps and looked for pasty butts, nothing seemed to be wrong. The only thing that helped for limited amounts of time were holding a couple at a time. We couldnt isolate which one was chirping the most but boy they were not happy. I was up half the night with them because I was worried and they were so loud.

I made sure husband was up to date when I left for work this morning, he had orders to watch them closely. He made them some warm barley and gave them some meal worms to try to distract them but they were still pissy. I got a phonecall a about an hour ago, and I was sure he was going to tell me we lost one. Instead he said did you feel that? I hadnt felt it but I was on the phone with a colleague when it happened and she gasped and told me we had an earthquake. Well - come to find out that the chickies are sleeping peacefully finally....and the dog is now sleeping with one eye open.

Thank goodness my last fuzzy butts are ok!

Yes I've heard that all animals act wierd before an earthquake. We are apparently the only animals left on the planet that are mostly clueless about this sort of thing.

Humans are clueless about a lot of things.

Karen I've got pens clean and going to paint tomorrow I think.

It's time to more the 27 quail babies out, so when some adjustments I think I can use one of the cages to house them. Well see though. They still might be able to get through the wire.

I had a horrible last hatch. Actually I had a great hatch.

Didn't candle when I locked down because I was going to be gone and running late. I put all 21 eggs in the hatcher. Only 5 chicks, but I had lots of clears and even more quiters. Lady at the feed store today gave me some ideas what might be going on. Then too , my FBCM girls are older than the rest, so that may have something to do with it. I do have a Bev Davis splash and a blue to add out there eventually. Matter of fact they are all out in the yard. First day out. The Wellies are out too and they all just kind of look at eachother and stay with their own. They were at the waterer and there are 2 Marans and 5 Wellies. The Marans used one side and the Wellies bunched up together like the Marans had cooties.

I have 3 Bantam Wellie girls now and 2 cockerels. One is really trying to out crow the big guys. He can't do it with Ziggy and Clyde around. They're the loudest. But he's trying. So the pullets are in with my hen and my Pene roo for now. He'll get the boot soon. I hope to find him some girls pretty quick. Then I'll move my 2 guys in with the girls. I have 2 chicks from the PxW mix and I'm affraid the older one is another roo. He has to go. Hoping the one that just hacthed is a pullet. The 5 LF Wellie chicks that are out for the first day in the yard ended up being 2 roos and 3 pullets too. Too soon to tell what the Maranas are. So much easier with the Wheaties or BCMs.

My first Fav eggs are do on the 30th. I hope my little pullet eggs took. If I had more room I"d have these in LF also. They are such sweet birds.

Oh and my oldest Lav AM pullet Lavern is starting to redden up! She's a pips&peeps girl. Come on blue eggs!

I'm looking for day to 1 week old baby chicks for one of my English hens. She's been sitting for the past two weeks and will not give up, I've run out of determination to try and break her...

PLEASE let me know if you have anything available!

Gosh Jeremy,
I wish I had known.................. I had babies I could have brought you when you met me at Cheryl's yesterday. Todays hatch so far is 10 BBS silkies from the dozen eggs I set. What a good hatch that is for shipped egg. For any eggs as far as that goes.......... I set the eggs you gave me in the new SUro with cradle & humidifier I was telling you I got. Sophie & her friend gave me an egg each yesterday after I got them home so I set the 6 darkest blue & am giving the other 2 to a friend to hatch.
The trip home was much better no delays & I made it home about 12:15. Much better time than going. Everyone is newly wing tagged & settled in.
