Gosh Jeremy,
I wish I had known.................. I had babies I could have brought you when you met me at Cheryl's yesterday. Todays hatch so far is 10 BBS silkies from the dozen eggs I set. What a good hatch that is for shipped egg. For any eggs as far as that goes.......... I set the eggs you gave me in the new SUro with cradle & humidifier I was telling you I got. Sophie & her friend gave me an egg each yesterday after I got them home so I set the 6 darkest blue & am giving the other 2 to a friend to hatch.
The trip home was much better no delays & I made it home about 12:15. Much better time than going. Everyone is newly wing tagged & settled in.

woohoo awesome hatch Karen!

Kim,
There are more cages if you want them. We can always make cages for the quail out of hardware cloth. I have the "J" clips & pliers already & I might even have some hardware cloth (1/2 inch) I use it for the grow out pen tops..
A couple of those quail eggs exploded today...........soooooooooooooooo glad they are so tiny!!!!!! LOL
I am packing up the extra Little Giant & putting it up. I have the Brinsea full & the Hovabator Genesis standing by & now the new Suro is going for a trial spin....LOL. I guess you all know by now that I am absolutely crazy.......LOL

The Ameraucanas I got from Cheryl yesterday were from Pips and Peeps blue eggs & the eggs I got from Jeremy are pretty blue from Claude & Sophie & Sophies's friend. I guess I should name her.......LOL Maybe she will be "Sophie's friend" by name.....LOL unless Jeremy already has a name for her.

I'm up for more cages. I'm thinking about doing some remodling. LOL

I showed Jason the peach bin coop. OMG Karen that was sooo cute! I need 10. LOL

I cleaned the cages the first night. Steel wooled the heck out of them yesterday and I'm going to paint them later today. Can't get Kayla out of the neighbor's pool to run to the dollar store for brushes. LOL

I did make a quail pen from HW cloth and an old nightstand I found a while back. Not the best job, but I wanted more space. I wish I had the money to buy up a bunch or it and make some stacking quail pens. That's my goal for whenever. I got another two breeding groups out of the chicks I hatched almost 6 weeks ago. I have 15 extra roos. I may save a few just in case. Then the ones we picked up from Jeff look to be more hens than roos, so I should have a total of 6 groups within the next month.

I need to start trying to collect stuff for a new bator. I want another cabinette with maybe 5 shelves. That should be good for hatching out the quail and I can sell more than the ones I hope to have the orders for already. If I could raise at least 4x as many and get them sold every month that would take a huge load off of my mond. Plus I know I wouldn't get my full amount, but I'll be taking extras to the auction.

I have to go out and fix a run too. Ziggy and the girls pushed through the wire that wasn't framed. So Ziggy and Pierre met face to face. No injuries, but I was out scooping up SPPRs because the girls were trying to get right up with Pierre. No mixes I don't want allowed! Luckily I had some frams started and block the exit. I can't believe I didn't fram that section. I think I'm just going to use washers and screws to close it up. Those are less likely to ever come loose.

Been trying to get pics of Rockette. I get close and she heads under s bush. She usually comes right up to me. I put my phone in the house and went to collect quail eggs and here comes Rockette. Sits right on my foot! She likes to eat whatever gamebird feed falls out of the quail pens.

OK gotta go look for the washers and screws.

Karen, I don't know why I didn't even think to ask if you had any babies. Well, I guess mostly because until today I hadn't decided whether or not I was going to let my hen have any chicks. But Elizabeth is determined to be a mother, she sits all day long- even in a wire cage with nothing underneath her. The only thing I haven't done yet to try and break her broodiness is dunking her bum in a bucket of cold water.

So! I'm going to give up and let her raise a few chicks. I wish I had known that you had the Silkies, I would love a few Blues or Splashes. I called the local feedstores here and Mike's in San Leandro is getting a variety of Silkies in as well as some "Ameraucanas" (EEs

) on Friday, so I'll probably go grab 5 or 6 chicks from there and see if my broody will accept them.

You aren't planning on coming out to the Bay Area again anytime soon are you?

Cheryl, Sophie and Rose are very cute names. I think that would work perfectly. The other hen that went home with Karen was one of the two Ameraucanas that I called my "Lovilies". They were from my original hatch of BWs from Jean Ribbeck and I have always thought they are just absolutely beautiful.

When will your Buff Laced Brahmas be hatching?

There is a farm up here that has 4-6 old wooden peach bins for sale! I pass the flatbed truck almost every day that has the 4 sale sign on it! Let me know and I'll find out how much they want. One of my friends up here made a darling coop from a fruit bin!
