Bay Area BYCers!

X2 Dawn,
I had seen Salmon Favorolles at Bridgette place & have now hatched 6 out but I got to see the Silver Dorking. I don't know that they were really good examples. I had, up to then, only seen pictures. I only have a couple that I hatched out awhile ago. Silly me, as I said, I have to try any breed I am interested in & I will cut way back later after I have seen them all grown & seen their eggs & learn their temperments. Hunting down the eggs, hatching them, & now watching them grow out has been such a great experience. Of course my feed bill is astronomical........LOL.
It was just sonice seeing all of you.

Karen I think I need to have you and Katy grab me a pair of those whites. I know someone who lost all os theirs and I was going to buy from later on, so I'd like to raise a few and help him get some stock back later.

I have lots of quail eggs in lockdown. They haven't been the best hatches, but I'm building up until I can incubate at least 150 at a time. With the heat lately though my birds aren't laying much, but hopefully I'll start getting some from all the youngsters soon.

But I do have quail for sale that are a couple of days hatch apart and are about a week and a half old.

whitetrashhorseranch got a tuxedo out of the ones they got from me, so Popcorn's throwing her color. I almost hate to sell these babies till I can tell if some are her's. I'd like to have a couple of breeding groups of Tuxes. My little white guys have lots of feathers now, so hoping I can move them outside soon. The first two groups of babies are both getting big, so maybe eggs soon. Makayla wants to cook some, but I need to build up to have a minimum of 100 a month, so she has to wait. She just loves all the tiny yolks when she puts them together for over easy eggs.

OK think I'll try to paint more cages so I can get more to paint. LOL Using the rabbit cages for some trios while I get things together for their own places. My babies seem to have just started growing like crazy and time to separate all the breeds. Luckily the rabbit cages are decent sized.

Oh and now I really wish I had been able to show my bantam Favs. They are so so pretty.

When is the next show anyway? Do we have to wait for the Stockton show in January?

There are two shows in Paso Robles the weekend of 10/8 entries need to be in by 9/25. Central Coast Feather Fancier's. They have a web site with all the info to enter.
It is two shows in one very much like the dog shows. Two sets of judges judge the same birds. Interesting some times to see the results that come from two different people judging the same bird.

Ah that's right, Paso Robles...hmm Walt do you know how many birds? It's an established show right, with good bio-security? I'd like to start showing off these breeds I have even if they aren't recognized

It is a good clean show. I will be checking bio security on an informal basis as a CA Poultry Health Inspector. Because two clubs are putting it on (Seaside Feather Fanciers is the other club) they will be pulling entries from norcal, socal and the central coast. My guess is about 1500+ birds. I'm probably bringing 50 or so.
