Bay Area BYCers!

Just got a donation for the get-together from Paul Bradshaw of Greenfire farms. He said "I'll send a dozen hatching eggs made up of the breeds we sell on the website. This time of year it probably means Swedish flower hens, Olandsk dwarf, isbars, etc."

I received confirmation from the Zoo this morning that our site is booked for November 5th, we'll be able to arrive to begin set up for the party at 9 AM.

ETA: What time do y'all think the actual party should start?

Also, who's going to be there bright and early at 9 AM to help set up?

I am fine thank you. Trying to talk myself into making decisions before the rainy weather comes. What growing outs chicks are you thinning out? Anything I can't live without?

Maybe a few Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas. I'm still waiting on about 10 pullets to lay their eggs though so that I can try to make some decisions based around egg color... it's kind of hard to cull these birds when they haven't laid yet! I'm hoping they'll start before it gets rainy and the days get shorter, I might have to wait until next Spring then.

I have 3 Heritage Rhode Island Reds right now too, I might sell one of those hens, I've got a bunch of brown egg layers.

I'm actually going down to Bridget's place tomorrow Karen to pick out some birds.

I'm getting a few Black Sumatra pullets for sure, that way I can start working on my Platinum/Dun/Khaki/Blue Sumatra project. I'm VERY excited about those birds!

Maybe I should run over there tomorrow too. I have 2 Black Minorca pullets to pick up. When are you going?

Well still no answer on my thread about corn stalks and rabbits. I did cut a bunch up and have them drying. The rabbits loved the very top that looks seedy and they're all nibbling at the stalks. Just hope drying and saving is a good I idea.

I used 2 feed bags and a bag from the rabbit pellets and Makayla and I separarted the stalks, leaves and the poofy tops (for lack of knowing what they're called) and once I know for sure zI'm doing this right, I'll have them all in different bags. Saving the leaves for them to eat and to maybe use in the coops or runs. They have lots more next door. The pile is about 12-14 feet long and probably 6 feet high. If I can find a use for them I'll take them all.

OH and since Halloween was always our couples holiday I'm going to use a few for decorations. Nothing elaborate in this neighborhood since it would probably be stolen ot trashed. Last year I barely got into the holiday since he wasn't here, but this year I want to do something.

Does Bridgett have any of her buttercups available?
