Bay Area BYCers!

Good Morning Everyone! Just getting to log onto my computer this morning! Just want to say that I too had a great time on Saturyday - Thanks to Jeremy/Carlos and Cheryl/Larry for the organizing and the donations! Can't wait to see all those yummy recipes posted......brushetta, beans, cookies and crackers! Carlos, Debi, Tammy, Judy???

Now I'm looking forward to Stockton....you all are getting me addicted!

I want to add a big thank you from me and my daughters to Jeremy, Carlos, Cheryl, Larry, and anyone else who helped with the wonderful Chickenstock on Saturday!!! We greatly appreciate all the work you went to! It was so nice to see friends, meet new chicken people, and eat the wonderful food! We can hardly wait for the next one in January at the Stockton show!

I was so excited to win the chicks from Cheryl. Now to decide which ones we want. That's going to be a hard decision! My husband just shook his head when he saw the certificate for more chickens. I keep telling him that he needs to buy me a farm so I can breed chickens and write off the expenses!

It was fun taking home samples of King Feed. My chooks are loving the whole grain poultry feed! Thank you, Cheryl, for giving up one of your bags for me to buy! I see a trip to Scotts Valley Feed in my future the next time I go to Santa Cruz to visit hubby.

Karen, Monet had a great time with Olivia. She is asking me when they can get together again! I need to sign up for the Delta poultry group! Will you be coming to Stockton and will Olivia be coming with you? An inquiring mind wants to know!

Sandy, It was fun to spend more time with you on Saturday! I am so looking forward to Stockton!!! I've already asked for both days off although I'm assuming that most of the action will be on Saturday 1/28 so that's when we will meet up. Hors dourve/wine tasting sounds great to me!

That reminds me, I forgot to say thank you to Dawn for bringing that wonderful wine! THANK YOU, Dawn!

Daphne, thank you for bringing the awesome BYC cookbook! I already have the first recipie picked out that I'll be making! Katy's lighter than air pan rolls. Everyone who has tried them here on the forum LOVES them and the pictures look delicious. What's better on a chilly fall day than some homemade bread? YUM!

I'm going to talk with Carlos more about switching to King feed, he seems really interested so I'll make sure to let you know when and if we may need help in the future.

I can't wait for 2012 meet ups! Stockton is a must, as is the Heirloom Expo. I feel like we should plan next year's Chickenstock a little bit earlier, maybe towards the end of summer. I'm hoping for better weather then and of course a bigger turn out next time. Thank you to all of you who did come though! I had a great time!

Walt, you have to point out the good Sumatra breeders to me, I need to pick up a few more pullets/hens for my Platinum cockerel.

If you go to Stockton, look me up and I will set you up with the Sumatra breeders. You already know Bridget, but there are others that will show there.

Jeremy, There weren't as many people there as we had hoped but it was a wonderful time!!! In some ways, a smaller group is better because it makes it possible to talk with everyone. My older brain can only hold so many names at one time. Having a smaller group allowed me to learn more names and hopefully cement them in my mind. I thought that the icebreaker bingo was a geat idea! I now know things about some people that I never would have known without the bingo game. It is too bad that the egg race was rained out. Did you go home and make deviled eggs wtih the hardboiled eggs?

Debi, I just candled everything I have in the bators and counted the chicks. I will have a really great selection within the next 2-3 weeks. Exactly 100 eggs developing nicely in the bators and 32 chicks hatched. SO PM me and I'll get you info or if you want to wait till summer, I'll give you one jubilee orpington in your mix of 3 - either way works
