Bay Area BYCers!

What topics do you plan on covering Walt?

If we do this I can cover any topics that the group would like to see/hear. I'm not organizing this, just making myself available. The 4H building in Rohnert Park might be the place if the group does not mind paying a bit for a venue. They will allow birds in that building.

Who is this Walt guy anyway??? I am not sure he could find my house!

IDK I've heard about this Walt guy from a few old-timers...they say he's a rock star, a virtual encyclopedia of knowledge, a rooster among men, a a a well you get the picture...we love him!

Oh Maureen I didn't realize the birds were in your front yard, then it's a bad idea, too much exposure for your flock, let's do it at my house in the summer when Walts schedule permits, peeps can camp out in my backyard and everywhere else...

I posted on the other thread...now I'm getting confused.. about maybe another speaker, perhaps on permaculture??

I'm sorry if I am confused, I thought this talk was happening relatively soon?

I'm sure we can find a site that will be suitable before the summertime.

LOL, they are spoiled...they pretty much have free reign over 2.5 acres. They range side by side with the cattle in the back but for some reason they think the front pasture is better, that whole grass is greener thing.....They keep he grass trimmed between the bee boxes at least :)

Well, lets talk - I certainly have room, but my flock free ranges all over my front yard...aka the front pasture as well as the back area. I am not sure how I would feel about birds on the property that aren't mine. People would be ok though parking for about 10 cars. Who is this Walt guy anyway??? I am not sure he could find my house!

Walt is too busy now, he's in the midst of show season and putting big mileage on his car so he wants to wait till things calm down or do it close to his home in Sonoma county sooner

I've posted a listing for my mille fleur leghorn auctions on craigslist THREE TIMES and they keep getting flagged, apparently by someone that doesn't want me posting these or as my friends are saying may be jealous, as they are completely compliant with craigslist rules.

I have craigslist working on getting me information on the person that is doing this... they are upset as it makes their forum unfair...

Has anyone else experienced that?

I have Cheryl. Happened right after Bill died and I was already a bigger space case then usual. There was someone else out here that had Silkies and I had bought what ended up being a bunch of roos with 2 whole hens tossed in. I was going to be taking them and bunnies to the auction the moring he died, but just so when that didn't happen I put them on CL and every time I got flagged. I ended up just holding on to them till I could deal with leaving the house enough to just take them to auction, like 3 months. I was so bad I took it personal and let it get to me. I hope you find out who it is. I was to the point back then I just had to walk away from it, but I'd see those Silkie adds all the time and wonder if it was the same person doing it.

Very interesting... Craigslist is upset because it sets up a precedence that does not allow free trade, and that's what they are all about...

I saw your ad the other day while checking out the chicken listings. Being cancelled 3 times would sure get me upset! Do you think that it's because you put $1 in the title and someone thought that they would be able to buy the eggs for that? I don't know Craigslist's rules on that but I do see people putting $1 or a low amount in their title when the item is acutally more than that amount. For example, I am looking at real estate down in the S San Jose area. I saw an ad today that had $4465 in the title when the actual cost was $465,000. I knew before clicking on it that it was either a mistake or a way to get people to click on the ad. It might also be because your ad was a link to an auction and the person wanted to buy them outright without bidding on them. Or maybe, it's just a grumpy person with a bee in their bonnet?!
