Prayers Mahalo!

My pair hatched out kind of poorly - getting stuck instead of a nice clean pop out. Think the bantam eggs might want more humidity.

One is well, the other prolapsed the yolk sac several hours after getting out of the egg. Talk about a bad thing to see. I bandaged it up and watched. Nope, he'd torn it. I made him quite unhappy and tied it off, stayed up with him half the night, checked the tie and trimmed off the sac. Treated it with anti-biotics and waited and watched and gave him fluids through the night.

Today the wee bugger is rallying. Since he was a pain in my --- and I was literally a pain in his - his name is Thorn. His brother Cad. It fits them. They're my first two seramas to hatch

Here's hoping Thorn continues to make it. So far so good.

I really hope Thorn makes it!I am hoping mine do ok I have so been looking forward to these chicks!still hoping for the best.

Keep us up to date Mahalo... I keep checking.

Got my Halo (BBS Rocks) and Nivtup's eggs (GCMs) and the seramas Billy gave me and (I could stop there but where's the fun in that) a few Sizzles from my blue girl AND I found a double yolker today to throw in with them when they go in tomorrow.

Yes - keep us updated! I'm on pins & needles for your hatch!

Hey, walkswithdog - it's never a good idea to hatch double yolkers. I know there's lots of talk about them, and someone currently has one incubating...but, there is one air sac for a reason. It's about a 1 in a million shot that both will hatch & survive. They push against the shell to hatch, and if there's another chick in the way...well...they push against the chick, and typically suffocate it while pushing. Sorry, not to sound like a wet blanket, but it just never ends well, and I had to throw in my two cents, for what it's worth. BEST of luck with your others!

I'm excited about so much late-season hatching going on!

yes day 19 but still no action after the pip so it probably wont start to zip till late tonight or early tomorrow so it should be ok,I hope!

Oh....good to hear you have a pip! They typically do not hatch early, so you must have had your temps just a hair too high. You might lower it for your next hatch. I know with my bator, it took several hatches before I really found all the "perfect" settings! And every time I hatch, I learn something new - which is why I ALWAYS tell folks not to get discouraged!

Can't WAIT to see your little ones! Come on, chickies! Go, go, go!
