How is your humidity? I had similar incidents happen. The thread is https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=290814

The
concensus was humidity. Are you sure the eggs you were talking about were bad or just chicks that pipped but stopped and drowned? The white foam sounds exactly what I experienced but the chicks were fully formed.

Sorry for your loss...its tough...

It's day 21 for us and we have 2 bators going. The ee's in the LG are 3/6 so far:fl
My BCM eggs in a Suro and I lost one today while it zipped(?)
We took the egg out and the chick was free of the membrane with a nice opening and just quit. It was rocking and rolling with vigor the last few days.
Def. makes me more curious about Marans. What settings are/did you use to hatch BCMs? I'm hoping we see some fuzzy butts soon.

I've had lots of problems with Marans. I do now have 2 girl chicks, that I will use their eggs to learn how to get it right.

Thanks for the thread. It took me a while to go through but very well worth it.

I'm not sure, but now my guess is that it did probably drown. When I removed it, I couldn't bear to open it. It smelled so bad. I just ran it outside and returned to my remaining batch.

My humidity has been 70+ the last few days. I haven't heard anything from any of the other 7 eggs at this point

I have 2 LGs and want to try a different one. What is the Suro? How is it compared to the LG? No movement at all : (

I came across it thru BYC. The Suro 20 is a bells and whistles bator (it's made by R-Com) it is digitally operated complete with Auto Pump to regulate temp and humidity and a fan. Instead of an egg turner the bator sits on a cradle the first 18 days, so your eggs are moved/turned. The best part is the price! It can be found for $249.00 (1/2 off reg. retail). I bought through Kemp's Koops but there was atleast one other business offering them at that price. There's a thread on BYC about the Suro 20 vs. Rcom that gave lots of good feedback on both. For me, the Suro price was the lure. It says it holds 24 chicken eggs but I can't imagine more than 16-18 Marans eggs. My BCM eggs were shipped (3 were broken) so that could be a factor. Who knows?
