I too check 3 times a day. Once before work, when I get home, and when I put them to bed. Nothing in the AM, most when I get home, and an occasional at night. My 10 Golden Comets started laying 10 days ago and I've been given 30 eggs already. Up to 6 a day now and I don't think they are all laying yet. What GOOD girls! The first one came on Labor day. I went in to look and there it was and a noise behind me turned out to be Brownie she was sooo proud! So I had to pet her and squeeze her and hug her and love her. I raised 15 Cornish Cross with them I'll never do that again. Now that their butchered the comets have calmed down. Now when I get home and get out of the car one will stick it's head out of the coop door and I'll say Where's my babies and they all come out excited to get let out of the run and coop. Oh and to get petted and talked to. Their fun!

I am a stay at home mom and since this is my first time having chickens and first time for the eggs also, I check way too much honestly I loose count!! during nap for the kiddos I go out and spend about an hour with them just petting them and watching them . My nierbors have started calling me the weird chicken lady LOL Bet they wont think im soo weird when I have enouph to start selling them cuase they all want eggs lol.

I usually check twice a day, once in the morning when I let them out and once in the evening when I put them to bed. I get most eggs in the evening pick up. I may start checking more since for three days I was only finding one to zero eggs and couldn't figure that out, then yesterday what do I find but six lovely little eggs in a new nesting area along the edge of the run. I think they did it just to worry me.

We're out there A LOT! Sometimes just to see what they're doing. My girls have just begun to lay. I have 3 laying and you know that they can't lay at the same time. They have to be difficult, of course!
