Beak Deformity question!

This is her beak from the front. Does it look crossed?

Doesn't look crossed over to me but it looks like the the top is off center towards the left side. If the bottom beak follows along that same angle then the entire thing might just end up looking off center but if not, then you might end up with a gap like mine has since the top and bottom aren't set at the same angle.

Even if it doesn't get worse or even improves, you may find that you still need to do maintenance on it, as birds with abnormal beaks have a harder time doing it themselves. I had another EE with the slightest bit of crossbeak (from the sides you couldn't really see anything wrong), and still had to file the edge of her beak down every once in a while.

How exactly do you file the beak?

Easiest way so far for me is to wrap the chicken in a towel or something and have a partner hold it with one hand while the other hand is sort of holding the neck steady. I use a plain, coarse emery board that you get at any drug store or beauty store. I use one hand to help hold the bird's head and one finger between the upper and lower beak to keep them apart, and just file whatever needs help. The bird won't like it, so just work in short bursts.

I usually file back the tip (like some dog's nails there's usually a semi transparent edge and that's safe to file) since the bird has trouble keeping that naturally worn down and it overgrows. And I file down any edges that might help with the bird being able to close the beak more properly, just a little bit.
