Bear Attack

In Pa if you don't make a certain % of your living from your live stock, you cannot kill any game animals especially bear out of season with exception of coyotes which there season is basically opened year round for if you do be prepared to go to court if the authorities find out about a such killing..Stick to the SSS rule
however self defense is a different story.

I know a fella who raises honey bee's just a few (20+) hives and he was having a problem with black bear. he called the pgc and they did nothing for him, he did have an electric fence but it did not stop the bear from destroying a few of these hives and coming back for more..he ended up shooting and killing the bear, he then called the pgc to come pick the bear up and they came and fined him i believe $500.00 for killing a bear out of season, don't know if he fought the charge or not..

And that was his only mistake. Sort of like the people who find millions in treasure and tell the press, who tells the gooberment, who taxes you 95% and says you found it in a illegal area and then puts you in jail

I live on a bear trail, and bears have never bothered my birds even though they have walked right past the coop many times. However, I did have a dog problem and called the police - asked them if I could kill the dog that was killing my chickens - they said no. I now have blunt rubber tipped arrows (made for hunting birds/bunnies), and a high powered pellet gun (a cop suggested the pellet gun

) for any dogs that visit my birds. Won't kill them (right away at least) but they will understand where they should not be.
