Not bright red... not sure on squatting, they do when you pay them....they are little charmers, just need to start paying their way though...Are their combs/wattles bright red??? Do they squat for you???
Me neither, don’t think I’m qualified...Mine lay when their wattles and combs are bright red and most squat when you touch their back - it's hormonal...
There are physical exams you can do but I don't have the details and really don't want to do a gyn exam on a hen![]()

Agreed.Given that all other husbandry factors are adequate, day length is the greatest factor impacting egg production. Once day length approaches 12 to 14 hours they will resume laying.
