Welcome to BYC!

I don't know anything about rabbits. You will want to ask this question in our Other Livestock section for help with your rabbits...

Enjoy your bunnies and welcome to our flock!

During the colder months, rabbits should have an area in their hutch where they can escape from the wind and snuggle into bedding, such as clean, dry straw or hay. I keep a smaller box inside the hutch in the winter months, and stuff it with hay. They burrow into it to keep warm. During the warmer months, rabbits don't need bedding in their wire cages, but they do need a hutch cover that keeps out the rain and sun, as overheating can be a problem with rabbits. They're better at keeping warm than they are at cooling off.
