I have 2 random hens, 2 silkies and 2 turkeys that all live together very happily. At night the hens sleep in the hen house, the silkies sleep in a barrel and the turkeys sleep on the highest spot they can reach. I am introducing my young ringneck pheasant (Chip) to the flock slowly (they don't like him so far :( ) So he lives in his own private house and run within the chook run. Heres my question - when hes finally able to mingle with the flock and his house is open to the flock, will he still go to his house to sleep? Will the other birds want to move in (it has laying boxes too)? I'd like to take the pheasant house out once he's comfortable being with the other birds, so I can use it elsewhere on the farm, but I dont want to upset anyone if they get attached to it!

I think it depends on how long he sleeps in his house. The pheasant that is.

I only have chickens but have three different coops. A baby chick coop, my main coop which is just a converted playhouse, and my pallet quarantine coop. Currently all of them house chickens. During the day they all free range together and are comfortable doing so. But at night they all go back to their individual sleeping places. Since they are birds of habit they go back to what they know. My quarantine girls, even though they’re no longer in quarantine, started laying in their pallet coop because they have lived in it for almost five months. My chicks, who are three months old, could go into the bigger playhouse coop. But don’t want to get bullied and they go to where they know.

I think since you want to take Chips house out you could probably just close it off once he gets used to the rest of the flock. And vise versa. Otherwise I think he might keep going in there. I know mine do.
