My 1st peacock ever "Petey"..All i knew was he was a pied, nothing else since I knew nothing about peas back then- this was about 9-10 yrs ago.
I finally found the only pic i have of him..he met a terrible demise by a rotton neibors dog..the dog met his demise also.

he was super-duper tame & i got him as an adult..I would LOVE to have one like this again.

He was a spalding loud pied. the green in the neck shows the spalding. Lot of white for a pied !!!! not a silver pied as he has no white eyes.

Thanks Deerman..I had often wondered thinking back if he was a spalding pied.
Now..I know I will never get another one with his personality..but just maybe i can find one similar in looks..i LOVED all the white in him.

Would you say he was prob a cross between a java & a white? or a spalding & a white?..I never could find a white when I bred the javas or I would have been trying to make more of these lol

My favs are java..but these come in 2nd for me..theyre just so eye catching.

I just love how spaulding pieds look!!!! Sorry to hear that your boy met his demise. Our neighbors dog comes over all the time and looks. If she ever does something else then I'll have to have a discussion with our neighbor.

For loud pieds like that, have to get birds from a line that throws loud pieds. Does not matter if it is pied to pied or pied to white etc. Some lines just have less or more white in them. My spaldings throw pieds with quite considerable amount of white..

One of the females:

Female with "extra, extra white".. she is almost white, with small spots of color. I love her!

Silver pieds are a "different kind of pied", supposed to be mostly white plus any colored feather in tail has a white eye spot. They are a good bet for finding a pied with more white.

Kev, some very nice pieds.

Like to add silver pieds do have mostly white, but those blue eyes stand out on loud pieds.

Note the little peachick displaying on the right. See the yellow spot on its back, if a male those will be white train feathers. Thats the area to look at chicks to see if they will have white train feathers. Remember train feathers are NOT tail feathers, but come off the back.

Looking at those back feathers, he will have colored and white feathers in his train.
