I rewatched(?) the first episode....AGAIN. I just LOVE Farmer John and his emotional attachment to his animals. He's a real sweetheart and the most adorable cryer ever. It makes me smile and giggle and my heart goes out to him all at the same time. The way he breaks down just breaks me up. But I'm not making fun of him. I understand completely. (apologies for repeating this theme....)

I already know when it comes to butchering we are going to have problems. We've named all the chickens, we will be naming everything else when we get them, and my partner is a cryer

so, I'll need to make sure we have plenty of tissues on hand that day!

I'm not alone???

I LOVE this show too! My husband just rolls his eyes because I get sooooo giddy when it comes on. I watch the episodes over and over.

I think it's because I find some validation that it's not crazy to want a self sufficient lifestyle but still enjoy creature comforts of a nice home, too.

Doesn't it make you just want a bunch of goats and a llama? For a while I was thinking about getting dairy goats but that is a lot of work and unfortunately I don't have a Farmer John. Maybe when I retire in a few years.....my husband has instructions to say to himself every time he buys a lottery ticket, "this is for the dairy goats...." Not sure how I can spy on him to make sure he does that, though.

Hopefully they will have a Christmas special or something to tide us over until the new season starts in 2011. I'm going through withdrawl!
