Been meaning to post pics of my house and finally did

Boy is your wife going to keep you busy. Construction away from home during the week and construction at home on weekends.

Are you going to fence the front yard to keep the boys in?

Nice place.

Yeah I'm a busy guy all summer. I do plan on fencing the front yard. The back is already fenced except for two gates so that will be nice. I made a deal with my neighbor to pasture his cows in return for fencing my pasture last year. I don't have a need for the pasture yet so I may just make another deal with him to fence the rest of my place in exchange for another year or two of grazing.

I cracked up when I noticed the flock of chickens moseying across your driveway in the first picture. How awesome is that?!

I think the lilacs will be beautiful...

The chickens aren't the worst part of it. I've learned that 5 ducks can leave a bigger mess on the driveway and walkway than 40 chickens can.

Why on earth would you want to get rid of them?

The ones on the north side of the house don't serve any purpose. The prevailing wind is from the south-southwest and they don't serve as a windbreak. Also, when they were planted the area there in back of the vinyl fence was a garden. Now they are so tall that they shade the entire garden area except for a short period for a few hours in the morning. That's why I'm moving the garden to the area behind the trees. Much more daylight there. The trees are rather messy too. Lots of pine cones and needles. I wish those trees were on the south side of the property along the fence line instead. They would serve as a great windbreak there and not block the sun.

Gotcha. You have that problem and I have palm trees, which don't give any shade. That's why I only have one now. I need oaks

I just need a bunch of fruit trees. That's one of the next projects we are working on too.

Last winter I scattered sunflower and holly hocks seeds all over the area we are planning the chicken yard for. Hopefully that will give them some cover and look neat too.

I want to try peach trees, (Hubby still saying nO) we have two apple trees, a couple of walnuts - its SO neat going out to pick your own....

Yeah we plan on using some of our income tax return money for buying a bunch of fruit trees this spring. We are pretty excited for that and our garden. Just another way we can be more self-sufficient.
