Good day Chicken Lubers!
Haven't raised chickens in 40 years. Keep saying I was going to get back into it... So bought Bresse pullets and a rooster July 3, 2022....then bought 14 Mystic Onyx week old pullets...then bought 10 straight run French Black Copper Marans chicks, a 3 month old FBCM cockerel, and 2 straight run Olive Eggers chicks....then I bought 3 Ameraucana hens, then bought 1 Easter Egger pullet....then hatched 5 Bresse chicks. Then I told my husband that we needed another chicken house, which he is building now. Next will need a house for our meat birds...
I do plan to sell 4 of the Mystic Onyx pullets, 3 FBCM cockerels, and the fresh hatched Bresse chicks.
I will have Roscoe P. Coltrane (FBCM cockerel) with 5 FBCM pullets, 3 Ameraucana hens, 1 EE pullet, and 1 OE pullet. Captain America (HUGE Bresse rooster) will be with 3 Breese pullets and 7 Mystic Onyx pullets. These will be in separate houses and have alternate days to free range.
Hoping to create some great meat birds with the Bresse/Mystic Onyx mix. Both birds tend to be large meat birds.
I've been reading a lot and will continue to do so. Looking for a long and prosperous chicken business....if they will just stay OFF the porches!
