Been very emotional since Wednesday Evening

He had a real big day. First off breathing tube. Down to 1 PICC line. This afternoon removed both catheters (urine & bum). Off IV meds to keep blood pressure up. Tonight will be done with the TPN IV. They had him sitting up in a recliner at 5:00. At first he told the nurse he wasn't hungry. She told him when he can show he can eat & keep it down the feeding tube will come out. He ate all his clear diet. Exercising his lungs every hour.
He asked what they found. I told him. You definitely have Crohns. There are 3 infected abcesses. So they have you on high antibiotics and prednisone to control it. What the GI DOCTOR told me that there have been big improvements on how to treat. That the steroid treatment that he wants to get you one is a 20 minute IV once every 8 weeks. First thing was to get the lungs & heart taken care of first. So doing the prednisone temporarily, can do it for a month, it is not a long term medication.
He told me to go home at 8:00. Said you look really tired, get some sleep. I know you, you didn't sleep much all these days. Now you can relax, I am going to be okay. He asked the nurse to get him in the bed. He was tired.
Thank You to all of you for all the support. Especially to James & Virginia. Our phone talks really helped Steve says Thank You also.

Steve is making progress by leaps and bounds. Yesterday PT had him standing and walking to the chair with a walker. Did leg exercises in the chair. While I was gone a social worker came and talked to him. He couldn't tell me what it was all about. All he said was, she said I can't come home, I have to go to assisted living. He showed me the paper that had a list of places. While he was being cleaned up I took the paper and went and asked the nurse about it. She said no not assisted living, rehab just until he is stronger. That the hospital no longer has inpatient rehab. They go to another facility for it. I told her, that that lady should have never talked to him without me there, cause his mind is still in a bit of a fog, and he didn't understand. He thought it was assisted living and that is what he told me. So I explained it to Steve. I told him it is not assisted living, it's like when your mom broke her hip and had to go to a rehab until she was stronger and able to move around with the walker. That it would be a short term, then come .
Took him off the IV antibiotic, he developed a rash. Nurse asked me to look at it and see if it looked different from when his exzema. It was completely different. They thought it was a reaction to the antibiotic, so the antibiotic was stopped. In 24 hours it has started to dry up and starting to clear up.
He was taken off all IVS and oxygen today! PT worked with him today. Went to have him stand up and she said she didn't help him. It was all him He walked to the chair with the walker and sat in the chair unassisted. She did leg exercises with him. She said with these improvements it is a possibility he wI'll be able to come home when released. Said their concern is no handrails in the shower or a shower chair/stool. I said I will get them. Got on Amazon and she told me the best length and I can go with suction ones, I ordered 2 handrails and a shower stool. Paid to have 1 day shipping, will be here tomorrow. That concern has been taken care of. PT gal told him she wasn't going to take it easy on him tomorrow. :gigTold him now you are going to find out why I call them Physical Terrorists. :lau 5:00 the nurse had him walking in the hall with the walker. He walked 170 feet on his first walk! :celebrateHe is eating good and drinking the Ensure they added to his meals. He is suppose to do his breathing exercises 10 every hour. He is doing 15 every half hour. Getting higher than the goal they made yesterday. Doing everything he is told to do and more. Think he wants out?
He knows what his brother and 2nd cousin pulled. He was using my phone and the messenger popped up. He read what his 2nd cousin said. Gave me the look and said what did my brother say, cause I know he did. I told him. His brother came up today. Steve told him he had a bone to pick with him. That he had better never treat me the way he has. That I had enough to deal with, without his crap. Her dad (who also was a Marine) wants to kick yor ass. He is not only my father in law, but also a brother. You should know, when a girl calls dad crying,, it's bad and you are in deep sh*t. It was her dad, a couple of friends and her BYC peeps that gave her the support she needed. You certainly didn't, she won't turn to you for support. He looked at me and said Tell BYC peeps I said Thank You for being there for you and for showing you care about both of us.

Steve called 3 times before 6:00 am. I didn't hear the phone. I forgot to turn the ringer back up last night...ooopppsss. Called him back. He said he is out of ICU! :celebrateMoved him to the 4th floor! Told him I just got up and saw I missed 3 calls from him. Told him I forgot to turn my ringer back up last night. He laughed said you were tired. Now to get him strong enough to come home, hopefully no rehab.

Got even better news an hour ago. Doctor told us to plan on him coming home, no rehab!:celebrate Have to go get him a walker (getting the one that has 4 six inch wheels, hand brakes and a seat if he get tired and needs to sit), his Ensure, pull up depends and bed pads.
Way to go Steve:clapSleeping in the recliner right now. Already did OT Therapy. She said will work on steps today, she thought he could go home too.
