Been very emotional since Wednesday Evening

Was at hospital at 6:30 this morning. They said he didn't sleep much. Tried the breathing test, failed but said he was so close. That another test may be done this afternoon.
Turned the TV on for him, put it on the History Channel (he likes that channel). He was watching it and fell asleep, just like at home. Told his nurse he is use to having the tv on 24/7, he has a hard time sleeping without having it on. He said Good idea. When he tested him for dellerium he said he is much better than yesterday. He knows where he is and why he was there. Yesterday he didn't.
Cardiologist came in before 8:00. Told me his plan of action. He wanted to shock the heart today to get his heart beating right, like it was before the aspirations. Then he saw the feeding tube and said make that tomorrow. Feeding tube has to be turned off at a certain time. But first he needs to talk to the ICU Doctor. Asked if I was going to be there tomorrow morning. I said absolutely by 6:30 like I have done every day since he has been in ICU.
Around 9:30 the GI Doctor came in. Said the abdomen scan showed it was definitely Crohns and there are pockets of infection. That right now treatment is high IV antibiotics and a steroid (not the long term one). That will be done after the heart and lungs are taken care of. He said there has been big improvements on treatment in the past 20 years. He even took the time to draw a diagram and explained Crohns to me. Said he was glad I was there and can see Steve has my full support. That his partner told him I was very worried and suspected Crohns. I said yeah, he would have a day or 2 of diarrhea, then be ok so I thought Crohns but also thought IBS.
Hospital just called.
Steve was resting. Asked him if it was ok if I went home to get some things done. I need to do some laundry, I'm running out of clean clothes. He nodded yes. So I stopped got money order to pay the storage, came home got some clothes washed and dried.
OMG scared he hell out of me. They wanted permission to put a pic line in. The one in his neck has been there too long is what the ICU Doctor said. Told the nurse I would be back between 5:00 and 5:30.

The PICC line will be a good thing, so do not worry about that. It is relatively safe and easy, as far as medical procedures go and will provide longer term access to his IV medications and fluids. You mentioned he is getting fats in his IV so I am guessing he is getting TPN and lipids and this will provide and easier/better solution to giving him that as well. I worked as an RN in med/surg, ICU, L&D, and NICU. It has been several years since I have worked there so I may be a little rusty, but if I can be of any help, please let me know! Keeping you and your hubby in my thoughts and prayers!
