Before we get too attached- Roo or hen?

I am leaning towards roo but I'm not as good with sexing LF chicks as I am bantams. Seems some LF chicks can get bigger combs and turn red earlier than others. I hope someone with speckled sussex experience chimes in soon!

I wish I could tell you for sure .. as a full grown hen does have a bit of a comb I can't tell at this age but I am sure some one with more experienced than I will help soon ! Sure hope its a hen ! But I am worried : ( Thats a pretty pronounced comb for only seven weeks ..

Good Luck

Look at the tail. If this chick has a long tail, it's a female. Short tail means rooster. SS's combs grow pretty big fast.

Thanks everyone. Here's one more, a bit blurry. I too am leaning toward a Roo. SHE is the first one to hop out of their box when i take the lid off. Very docile but curious. IDK. Time will tell. I will just have to get the kids to "gush" over a different bird. Sorry about pic links I'm not sure yet how to get photos from iPad photobucket into post.

OMG! Just after posting this my nine week old EE crowed! I was able to get it on video to show my husband. I can't believe this. Now I have two to rehome. 'sigh' I got my EE from a different person I got the rest from. When I showed him a pic of her last week he said she was beautiful and wanted her. Maybe he'll take HIM now. I still can't believe she crowed. I hope I can find two more to replace these guys. :(
