My Rhode Island Reds are all about 23 weeks old, should be coming into lay soon,
Is this normal behavior...?
The biggest one has spend most of her time inside the coop in a laying box, i have noticed she has dug down to the bottom and sitting there. The other 2 are happily out in the run but she just stays in. It has been a little rainy today but the run is fully covered from rain. I think she has sneezed once or twice or it sounds like that but other than today its been about 25 C.
Please, is this normal for the start of egg laying?
Thank you.

Just found first egg from her, am over the moon

Aw bless her! My bluebelle gave me a terrible fright too on the day she first laid - she stood around singing a very forlorn and sad egg song for hours before going in and doing the business, and I really thought she was sick or something. I spent the day cuddling her and trying to cheer her up! It was just the egg song though and I was proud as punch when she laid her egg later that afternoon!

Well done to your clever girl
