Beige vs. Platinum Blue

That looks like plain old Dun chocolate to me, but seeing how its a sumatra I would have think it lost some melanizers OR something else is also diluting it, I have seen dun sumatras that are almost black...

Quote: I know what you mean, here is one of the dun chicks that is a sibling to the light colored chick. I just go over this chick with a fine tooth comb trying to learn what I might look for in the future if this chick does prove out (by breeding) to be recessive chocolate in addition to the dun.

Here is the sibling to the light colored chick. The one in front by the black Araucana chick.

This dun chick has the nearly black beak that is the same as the mother and darker legs that are sort of slate looking that is the same as the mothers which are dun. Do any duns have chocolate colored beak and legs? I'm just looking for anything that is different on the pale colored chick and comparing to the dun mothers and this dun chick who is out of the same dun hens and chocolate carrier sires. I figure if this light colored chick does prove out to be a dun plus recessive chocolate combination, I'd like to know I could identify those at a young age. May not mean anything. I just don't know.

I do understand there can be a lot of differences in the genetics that don't show. Just trying to get to know what I'm producing better from the day they hatch on to maturity. I just don't have anything to compare the little pale chick with.

Here are some photo's that I just took today. This chick has a nice glow, very hard to capture in a photo and looks a lot darker in photo's when taken inside or in the shade.

Taken inside the chick building

taken outside in natural lighting but the sun was pretty strong.
