BEING ROBBED through PayPal

I hope it is over with quick for you. The bank froze our account because of the fraud that happened to us, and DH check was direct deposit. That was not fun. As our bank moved snail paced.

they remove all those fees.

CALL THE BANK ASAP !! If you use a bank card (not your checking account number) you can get the card cancelled.
If you used your routing number and checking/savings account number to set this up, then you need to freeze these transfers.
If you bank with Bank of America, good luck getting anything done and I doubt they will take the NF transactions off. I am assuming you do since you stated it is 39 bucks and only BoA charges this ridiculous amount.

Man, how did they get this done. I am shaking for you.
The bank will take whatever money you put in and leave you with the rest after it is paid the nsf transactions,
I am SURE they took the larger amounts out first and then the lower amounts to further your pain and frustrations.

OMG BOA, my son lost thousands out of his account, and they got loans thru them too. Over a year later and it still wasn't resolved. Seems someone purhased a 90,000.00 tractor in the midwest. Feds were involved so it took even longer.

editted to say my son never purchased anything online ever, for them to be able to get his account. It was stolen from BOA, and they new they had a problem, they admitted it.

heh- its so sad. It isnt BoA, its CharterOne. And that is exactly what they do- and did. Large amounts that occured after my own transactions, went in first- then my own transactions, at the tune of 39 dollars each. Readded every three days. There are seven or eight transactions- which the NSF fees can total up to approx. $1100 by the time my check is deposited.

Like I said, I can only pray that this is resolved quickly and that the bank reverses the fees because I did not authorize the transactions.

I am so sorry. What a nightmare, but good thing you caught it so soon. I sometimes don't check my paypal for months!

I want to recommend you apply for a line of credit for your checking account. This is an excellent way to never overdraw. We have one for 2,000 dollars. We NEVER use it as credit. If it ever gets dipped into, we pay it off immediately when we can. This way we never get charged for overdrafts, and all our direct deposits get paid on time.

Good luck! Thieves really are evil.

I buy allot of stuff from ebay through paypal and I have had fake e-mails sent to me 3 times through out the year. I noticed the first one because the sent address did not look right but the logo looked just like the blue paypal so I went to the real paypal site and went to there fraud allert page then forwarded the e-mail that was sent to me to the paypal fraud site. Paypal sent me an e-mail thanking me and it said that everyone that gets these e-mail should forward them to the real paypal so they can track and shut down the fraud sites. Don't ever trust any e-mail with passwords or any info, don't use the same password to get into e-bay and other web sites. The best bet is use numbers and upper and lower case letters on your passwords and change them every 90 days and never keep a file in your computer that says password with all your passwords in it. Sorry for your loss and I think I will close my paypal account after reading about this.

paypal can take forever working these things out too. I would call often, the squeaky wheel gets the attention faster with paypal. I'd stay on the bank too. If you have to, close out the acct and open a new one. Let work know, so you can stop the direct deposit, and get a live check for now. Be sure to file a police report too. The more you document and have the legal system on your side, the faster everyone will work with you to resolve the issue.

This also happened to my sil on christmas eve. her pay check was suppose to be there and it said it was deposited but all her money in the bank was gone. she found out that someone used her debit card and paid for 2 dental visits in canada and a whole lot of other stuff. she said that the first few transactions were like .60 cents .19 cents and so on then came the big transactions. She is a school teacher and gets paid every two weeks anywhere from 1700.00 to 1800.00 a pay day. and they lost all her pay

I agree - close the account down completely - that way nothing further can be stolen from it in the future. They already have your account information so...chances are, its stored. Close it down including all debit cards associated with it. You dont want your direct deposit getting taken again on a whim - it may not be right away, but it could happen again down the road.

Open a new one and do not link your bank account with PayPal - use a credit card and set a spending limit through PayPal with alerts if that goes over. I removed my "verified" status a few months ago because people were getting hacked just like you and monies stolen - so I undid everything and "unverified" my status. I can still purchase via PayPal it doesnt change anything - the only thing it changes is the amount I can purchase daily. No biggie....and I'm protected via my credit card company as well.

NOTE: If you have passwords and accounts stored on your computer - ECRYPT THE FILE IMMEDIATELY - and then store it on a disk, print it out and put it in your safe. Too many "new" things /ways people are hacking into your computer and getting that information (phishing)... doesnt take but a moment to do so and then you're really in trouble.

I am amazed that folks still use pay pal. Ml shaking her head you are so open to this stuff. [email protected] is a email to forward these bogus things to. Faud is alive and well with pay pal.

Ebay boutht out pay pal and it opened up the door for theives to enjoy what ever they could acess.
