I can’t find another “general discussion” thread on d’Uccles. If someone could link it, that would be great. I’ve searched and searched....unless I spelled it wrong while searching.

A few pics of mine. I have an adult trio (pair of porcelain, plus a golden neck pullet). I’ve now hatched a few of their eggs and can identify each girls’ eggs. The porcelain started laying sooner than the golden, so I’ve hatched a few more pure porcelain. Only one golden egg hatched so far, and the chick is gold colored. I cannot seem to find enough info on the color cross to determine what the resulting color will be. Anyone know?

I have 7 eggs due to hatch in 3 days. Would have been a lot more, if i hadn’t dropped something on top of the incubator and cracked a bunch of eggs on day 3! I taped a few of the cracks, and 2 look like they might make it!

One of my hens just decided to be broody, so she has a few eggs, d'Uccles, and maybe some mixes with EE bantams too.

How broody or not are d’Uccles in general? I’m pleasantly surprised with their laying now. They sure were slow to start, but now lay almost every day. I expected them to be more sporadic.

My d'Uccles have been broody enough over the years, so one or two hens decide to raise chicks each year. I've lost broody hens to predators when they are out with their chicks, always tragic, and last year half the d'Uccles were killed in a dog attack one day.
So, I'm delighted that one of the surviving hens is doing her thing now!

Most of my D'uccles are actually quite excellent layers. And they don't go broody much but are lovely ma's when they do.
