Belgian Watermaal Bantams - a cousin fo d'Anvers/d'Uccles!(pic heavy)

Does any one have any for sell? If so what color do you have? I am looking for Silver Quail de Watermael hen 3 to 6 shipped to Portsmouth Va. Thanks.
I have not heard of silver quail watermaals in the US. There are very few of us working on recreating this breed. The majority of the focus is on recognized colors. so they can be shown and hopefully removed off the inactive list.

If you look through this thread you will pretty much see most of the birds that are out there, not very many. If I have any luck there will be alot more in a couple years. I don't know of any eggs for sale.

And it can qualify for sweepstakes just like any other recognized breed, so long as you are showing within the recognized varieties. The only real significance of the term "inactive" is whether or not the breed standard should be printed in the ABA. If bird has not been shown in any significant numbers for a very long time, then why spend money to include it's standard in the book? Basically, to save on printing costs. If enough people show it, it will be considered active enough to be printed in the books again and taken off the inactive list. Once a breed is recognized, it is kept and the breed will continue to be recognized, regardless of active/inactive status.

I am very excited to have found this thread...I ended up with what appears to be a 'topknot' chick from a Mille Fleur d'Uccle breeding, and was wondering if there was a type of these little guys with a hat...maybe I will keep him around while i learn more about breeding these little guys...

700

I found these when I got home from the show at Lucasville.

They are ADORABLE surprises! It happens! I have a "Spring Surprise" that came from my "yardbirds". She looks SO Polish... Full top hat/crest so far. She's still growing... Hatched mid March. NOTHING I own is crested... Or splash but she sure is. Ya just never know!
