Bento Box Fever!

I got my 2 tier boxes from Ichaban (sp?) today. They seem sooo small. They'll be perfect for me to take to work since I don't eat much on the route, but I don't know if they'll be big enough for the kids other than maybe the 6yr old. We'll see. Maybe I can creatively squish more in there than I think.

Asher: I try to pack as vertically as I can when making my son's lunch for school. You can cram lots more in there that way. Stack things up using dividers to help you keep everything separate and steady. I also like to divide stuff with inert things like blueberries, which can go next to moist or dry things no problem. You can also use lettuce or spinach as edible "cups" for messy foods. The sky is the limit!!!!! Have fun and post some pics when you can

(my camera is down for the count right now, grrrr.)
eta: You can look through the info that came with the boxes and it should tell you how many mls each box will hold. I guess that is one way to figure out what size box is most appropriate for a certain age of child. My 8 year old has a standard two tier box which he finds holds plenty of food for him, and he is a big eater

Off topic but cool. I learned from the Manga Cookbook that the Japanese word for rabbit is Ringo. (No, they aren't cooking it, they're making apple slices look like it-just so you know!) This is cool because my son's rabbit is named Ringo! After the Beatle but still neat!

Maybe that's why the rabbit on Bella's new Clickety Click box is named "Rinda."

Yes, I got my stuff from J-Box. I can't believe what I paid for shipping. But BOY, was she tickled. She said, for the dozenth time, "I wish I was a little Japanese girl!"

She's been saying that since she first watched "Ninja Warrior" on G4.

How long did you wait altogether? We're getting impatient here, especially now that we have the Manga Cookbook and my son had already placed orders for most of next week.

My LL kit came today...I feel a little silly. I didn't realize it was made for kids! But no matter, I'll still get great use out of it. There were some tasty-looking recipes in the book that I'm going to try, too.

Don't feel silly. I bought mine for me! I get more compliments and questions about it. I love it anyway. But I work with school teachers who bring their lunches in Scooby Doo lunchboxes...

DH was thrilled with his lunchbox. He was really excited to see what he had for lunch today. It doesn't matter if it was made for kids, I fit 2 sandwiches, chips, carrots & ranch dressing, string cheese, water and an ice pack in there for him. Perfect size, even for adults.
