I have a hen that I think is a mixed breed broiler and golden comet. Her 1st year and a half, she would pretend to lay an egg and sing the egg song. She did not lay her first egg until about a year a half old. Once a year after, usually, 2-3 eggs two-three days in a row. She is 4 years old now. She usually lays towards the end of summer.
I am thinking hormonal problem. Curious?????

Just consider Bessie Girl, as your favorite pet. I'm sure if things were as average chickens,, she would have served up many breakfasts for you. ❤️
I don't think there is a solution, or cure for her.
Just EXTRA LOVE:love

She is a pet. I don't eat any of my feather babies. The times she wants to lay an egg really bad, I feel sorry for her. She hangs with my Banty rooster a lot. 💗

Comets are bred to be high-output egglayers, which amounts to an early death-sentence as their over-producing bodies wear out very quickly. That's why they generally have a shorter lifespan than standard breeds. That said, it's a boon for your Bessie. You're likely to enjoy her company much longer than handful of years most comets get!

How have you verified this? Pelvic check? Food coloring in the vent?
My chickens lay their eggs throughout the day. Because she is a broiler mix, I have 2 of them of which Bessie is one and their eggs are a pale whitish tan color. Belle my other One has laid her egg already when Bessie in in nesting box.
