Best animal to "mow" lawn? Need suggestions please!

If you must have animals, hair sheep and feeder steers. They graze on different species of grasses and cancel each other's parasites out.

If you just want a reasonably neat 5 acres, have someone cut it for hay. They will cut it twice a year and it will do well with this. This will keep down most of the noxious weeds and scrub and the hay/grass will provide a home for small game. Small game keeps the predators out of your coops.

Thanks, Love 'em to death! My minis do a fairly decent job of mowing. I have about 1 1/2 acres surrounding the barn, sectioned off in to 3 lots. I rotate the minis about every week & a half. I still end up mowing about every 2 months, to knock down the "bathroom" spots, But sure beats mowing every week! The minis are low maintenance, Trim hooves every 4 months, worm twice a year, & bloodwork once a year. The white one cost $1500 when it was born, the red, $800. The brown is a dwarf, so he was worth nothing, & they usually don't survive because they're born with crooked legs, crooked jaws, or both. He has a crooked jaw, but I had his teeth floated 2 years ago, & he's still a fine little butterball. Shop around, & you'll find a great deal like I did. The red & white were starving in an old ladys pasture, so I went up to try to buy them from her. She told me to take the pesky things, so i did. The brown, a lady I knew was moving, & she called & said he was for sale for $50, so..... He was in TERRIBLE shape. He was in with a large horse, in a dirt lot, & didn't get much of the food. They can survive just fine on grass in the warm weather, & hay in the cold, but as you can see, my little butterballs get a little more. They get more brushing, & attention than the law should allow!

The pics are from before they shed out.
