My husband is an experienced woodworker. they don't use treated wood because the wood can be treated with a toxic substance to preserve it .when they use a saw and the dust flies up the toxic substance can also get in the air and make them sick. so they use untreated wood . untreated wood also has a much more beautiful finish.

I remember years ago when the caution came out . treated wood for outside projects was being treated with an arsenic based solution. people were making picnic tables to sell and getting sick and even dying .no one could figure out why until they realized that they were sawing this arsenic-based treated wood and they were literally dying of arsenic poisoning. since then a lot of things have changed and they use vegetable based treatments to treat wood. but in the last analysis ,untreated wood makes a much more beautiful product.
