best breed for dark brown eggs maran?

I really want to get some dark brown egg layers is the best breed maran?

Although I don't have any (yet), I believe your best bet is the black copper marans.

It depends where you get them. If you get them from a hatchery, you may or may not get dark eggs. Marans can have one of the darkest for egg color, if you search for good breeders. (There are LOTS of them here on BYC)

Here's my eggs from my BCM's from Gabbard Farms. By Marans standards, these aren't very dark.
