Best breed for egg laying?

My black australorps(sorry guys, is there a more brief way of writing that? BA's?) are doing quite well for being relatively new layers(just started last month). I am now getting 1-3 eggs daily from the 3 out of 5 that are laying. Some days I am even getting double yokers(our largest egg was 2.75" long). They also are an easy friendly chicken to live with. My entire family is smitten by them. And when we have visitors, they love going out to the chicken coop and learning how to hold the chickens and feed them and care for them. I enjoy that too.

I too was interested recently in the speckled sussex. I think they are pretty and sound fabulous. However, first I will order my EE's and also red sex-links. For color and rate of lay. Between the 3 breeds I suspect I will have everything that I am looking for in raising chickens. The speckled sussex will just be the icing on the cake, so-to-speak.

Our Red Sex link is a giant, but she doesn't lay as often as our Black Sex link and Barred Rocks. Next time, we are also going to get some white leghorns.
