Best breed of rooster for my flock?

I bought a Buff Orpington mature rooster for my 10 RIR's and New Hampsher red's. He has been stand-offish, but hasn't attacted me. I thought about trading him for a RIR rooster or a pot of chicken stew until the other day when a huge Rottweller belonging to a distant neighbor paid my flock a visit. I usually allow them out of my make shift pen to freerange but hadn't done so yet. I heard the ruckus all the way into my brick house and came a running. I found all the hens inside the roost and the Rooster throwing himself against the chainlink fense trying to get to the dog. He used to be called "Bumble foot" I've renamed him "Rambo". I took the dog back to his owner and warned him, "Better keep that dog tied up or I'll let Rambo out!

Good to know that it would help to share my future plans for the breed of rooster I get. That helps. I guess I want to get a rooster for protection and breeding purposes. I want the offspring to be mostly for egg production. Sorry about the vagueness of my request.

My welsummers are great layers. I have wittle down cockerals to one great WESUMMER ROOSTER I will keep for breeding. My BOs are good layers but get broody so often that I thought I would breed the least broody hen to the welsumer. Some of my favorite EE hens are great layers and for interesting eggs I thought offspring from him would be nice. Wesummers lay eautiful dark brown,milk chocolate colored and dark with spots. And my keeper boy is nice looking but his voice is horrible, hope it matures soon. But my favorite rooster was a EE, great breeder, provider, protecter, good with chicks and juveniles and recessive rumpless gene that has made his offspring interesting projects.
