Best egg producers in warmer weather?

Australorps and Rhode Island reds probably your best bet.

And Im pretty sure Australorps hold the record for best egg layers not Leghorns. tho leghorns are still probably in the top 5 for best layers.
The Australorp record was a long time ago. Has not been duplicated lately and the majority of Australorps aren't even close. Plus they have a tendency to go broody.

If you are wanting eggs to sell for a business you want Leghorns or Sexlinks. Though the sexlinks can still go broody, are pretty decent layers.

Ya i just checked it, 371 eggs laid in a year by leghorn is current record(couldnt find a comfirmed source tho), previous record was 364 by australorp, before that 354 by australorp, and before that 347 by australorp.

by group of chickens record still belongs to six Australorp hens set a world record by laying 1857 eggs in 365 days – an average of 309.5 eggs each.

From what i seen Australorps have set more records than any other breed, even tho as of lately leghorns have been setting some new records.

Ya sexlinks,Leghorns, australorps are pretty hard to beat on average if you want alot of eggs. Its all about bloodlines too tho, Ya certain australorps are better layers than others, same can be said for leghorns and sexlinks. My australorps and easter eggers are my best layers and they out lay my leghorns and sexlinks.

I was never impressed with sexlinks I have been rather impressed with Easter eggers everyone I've ever owned laid at least 5-6 a week which was on par or better then our Australorps we had. Also rememeber with layer production based hens expectt production to drop hard at 2years I had sfh for years until recently and my mother in-laws 2yr old rocks couldn't hold a candle to my 3yr old sfh's and now my parent's have them and my mother in law got one and they are still yet going strong through this season.

Never had leg horns but I've heard good things. You can get good an bad with any though.

Wyandottes are cold-hardy but mine have developed larger combs and wattles and lay VERY well in even 100* summers

Leghorns also eat a lot less. So on paper a little better profit.

Some strains of sexlinks (hyline) are pretty much brown egg laying leghorns. Minimal feed for the amount of eggs.

Easter eggers can lay pretty well. Many of the lines have leghorn blood in them from what I have been told by those in the business.

My best layer is a blue ameraucana, about 6 eggs/week. I live in South Florida, where it is really hot & humid for a good portion of the year, and pretty windy as of lately .

Leghorns are great layers, but can sometimes be aggressive. I personally haven't had experience with them, so I am going off of what other people have told me.

Easter Eggers are good layers, and they do pretty good in the summer and winter. I have 4 of them, and they are SO SWEET! I highly recommend them!

Buff Orpingtons are super sweet! I am considering get one for my flock! They also lay pretty well.

Good luck! Let us know what you choose and how it works out for you! :)
