I would like to know what are the best grains for egg production? The

Protein and calcium. You will also need a high quality complete feed to support the chicken that makes the egg.
I prefer Flock Raiser with multiple containers of oyster shell on the side vs layer feed as layer feeds don't have optimal protein levels. I also prefer that the birds not be forced to consume the excess calcium unless they actually need it for egg production.

Do you live where you can buy chicken feed or are you trying to formulate your own?
I also buy Flock Raiser (made by Purina). It's 20% protein. Other brands have similar products. I give it to all my chickens of all ages and they get oyster shell on the side.
