We are buying more Ameraucanas...yay!!! I have tried to find a local breeder, but I do not like certain things about all of them (ie EEs, or splashes have brown feathers) and am considering purchasing them online. The first flock we did purchase semi local, and they're a mess. The second flock my husband ordered from McMurray, and along with the fact that most of them are looking like roos, they're all EEs. Third times a charm, right?!? Tia!!

Can you expound on this please?

Do you mean it must say the color before the name (i.e. "Black Ameraucana", "Splash Ameraucana") or that only certain colors are true Ameraucana, or both? 👀
I think they only come in blue, black, or splash, and would be sold as "black ameraucana" etc. Check out the Ameraucana website (there's a breed website).

Ameraucanas colors recognized by the APA are Black, Blue, Splash, Self-Blues (Lavenders), Blue Wheaten, Wheaton, White & Brown Red.

Go to your state for a list of breeders. I can also recommend https://freshlypickedchicks.com/ I purchased quite a few hatching eggs from her, and I will say that my Isabels, Wheatons, and Lavenders are beautiful birds

People seem to like the cackle ameraucana on here.
I don't know that I want to try Cackle for the Ameraucanas. I've read the reviews...apparently they had really good quality birds, but their quality has gone down in the past few years according to the reviews...so idk. If I decide to risk it I'll update with how it turned out for sure!
