Best Hen Contest

Here is Banty! She is a barred old English game hen! She is a hawk attack survivor! She is blind in her right eye now! We thought she was gone but she pulled through! The only way we could get her to eat was by feeding her her favorite food, Doritos!🤣 It took her months to get back to her normal self but she’s all better now! Except she does suffer from some trauma. She gets terrified of any threat of any kind and she used to be one of the bravest ones! But no matter what we love her!❤️View attachment 2785529
She’s like: I survived the end of the world....😁

Pearl, our ornery BBR Old English Game Bantam hen who is thoroughly convinced she's actually a rooster. She crows and tidbits, and then runs around like she's had 50 Red Bulls trying to find a suitably ridiculous spot to pop out an egg. Last time she hopped up into our cherry tree and dropped one like a bomb into the lawn 😅

I should also note that, even for a bantam, she is unbelievably tiny. She definitely has a complex and her little body can barely contain all that rage. She once faced down a hawk sitting on our fence, and when I say she was so ready to brawl 😂

I must enter my Hattie-girl. She’s a 2 year old Rhode Island Red and not the prettiest hen in the world, but she is the best to me :love . She’s always loved sitting in her mama’s lap, is very curious and personable, gets along pretty well with the rest of the flock, and just loves having her mama chicken (me) around. She had to have surgery last year (really bad laceration on her side), and when I went to pick her up from the vet, they said I could let her out of the pet carrier. She walked right out and snuggled in against me. She’s my special girl and I hope she lives as long as my Barred Rock, Alice (currently 8 years old). Anyhoo, here are some pictures of her (mostly with me in them as well…):wee.
