I had geese once. 3 White Chinese. 1 male, 2 female. Loved them so much. Raised them myself. They bonded to me, but as they grew older only the male remained sweet. On the rare occasion that both females were away from the male, he would enjoy being petted and sometimes held. But when the "girls" came around watch out because he too would attack!
We kept them in our barn at night in a chainlink dog kennel beside the horse stalls.
I would not have been comfortable leaving them out all night.
When I decided to get chickens the geese went on the rampage.
The female geese would grab a chicken and literally throw it up into the air! Eventually all of the chickens were very afraid of the geese, so I found someone who wanted egg laying geese.
I still miss them sometimes.
Now that I have ducklings I keep calling them geese by accident.
