Best "Pet" Breeds

That's quite biased to one experience. I know a LOT of people who'd disagree with you.

Easter Eggers, being varied upon hatchery and even per bird, are, well, varied. Few actually grow out to be extremely flighty though. One of my hens was when she was young, but as soon as she started laying, turned right around.

All the birds you listed are great choices.

Ya your right I am biased. I have to EE's from MPC and I don't think I have ever held either of them do to there extreme flightiness.

My MPC EE's were absolute dolls! But they became even more so after they started to lay.

I do not have experience with the other breeds but I would say silkies as the number 1 and then EE. Even my silkie boys will snuggle!

My Barred Plymouth Rock is (so far) my most calm chicken. I spend at least an hour a day with everyone, talking to them, petting them, picking them up, giving them treats, so they are all pretty friendly. The ones that fly up to me as soon as the lid to the brooder is open are the: Barred Rock, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Speckled Sussex, Salmon Faverolle, Australorp, Golden Campine, Quail Bearded D'Anver, and the Welsummer. I look like the pigeon lady in the movie "Home Alone" with all the birds on my arms and shoulders.

My EE, Hootie, was very skittish at first, but I held her close and spoke very quietly to her while petting her for a while, and now she doesn't freak out when I reach for her. Still have to work on the Cochin, the other Barred Plymouth Rock, the Golden Laced Wyandotte and the Silkies.

I only have the Silkie on your list an out of the 3 I have, only my partridge hen wants anything to do with me.. she'll sit on her stick an "coo" at me.. the other 2 run away from me or when I catch them, they try to wiggle away from me..

I agree with someone else on here who said Serama... I love my Serama!!

heres how tame my 5 week old Frizzle Serama cockerel is.. this is Andre

If you choose EE, I would suggest having EEs ONLY. The EEs we've had tended to segregate themselves from the others and did NOT play well with other breeds. I did not get them as a group, 3 different sources.
