I've so many options, I wanted some of your guys' opinions on which is best. The brands I see are Sevin 5%, Insectrin Dust, Gardstar Garden and Poultry Dust, Prozap Garden and Poultry Dust, and Gordon's Permethrin-10 Livestock and Premise Spray. I've got an indoor turkey with mites. There are also a lot of other animals in this house. Which would you guys use?

I have heard of sevin and Diamaceous earth being used; but I personally don't like either due to them effecting other species (like bees and so on) and I just don't like the general use of pesticides. I have seen the Permethrin-10 livestock and premise spray, but never used it; though we did use their dip for dogs on my dog once with good results.

Personally, I plan on getting ivermectin pour-on for cattle; take a few drops and put it on the skin of the bird (not the feathers) and it takes care of worms and lice/mites/flies all in one go. In the past we've used the green skinsosoft which tends to just make the lice/mites leave I believe rather than actually kill them; and even used Adams Flea and Tick spray with good results.

The Ivermectin Pour-on costs about 12.99 for a 250ml bottle at our local TSC (not sure what it is where you are) which can take care of a lot of chickens for a long time both worming and de-licing in one go, I don't imagine turkeys would be too much worse. I plan on getting that (after checking with quite a few knowledgeable people to back up my thoughts) to follow up with after using Safeguard for worming.

God bless,
Daniel.

p.s. If you use Ivermectin remember to discard the eggs for about 10 days if the eggs are for consumption.
