Best quail for pets?

No, Coturnix are VERY tame when raised by hand and in small groups. This one quail flies up stairs to get to me when I have bugs and treats.
Not trying to be down, but i dont think a coturnix will be a good lap buddy, but i may be wrong. They are by far the tamest breed but i dont know about that tame, but ive only raised and hatched cots for 3 minutes so i dont know walmart. Hope you get a real tame one!

Ok ive always had larger batches of 20 or more so that may be why. That sounds entertaining!

You also have to handle them right. Coturnix are dumb little things, but they still have a few instincts about predators. They don't like fast motions, and they don't like things coming from above. Sit down and let them come to you, it goes much better than trying to go after them. Works for a lot of animals- let the animal set the terms of interaction, don't push it, and offer lots of treats. If it's clearly uncomfortable, back away or stop. With very timid or just-starting-to-tame animals, don't approach them in the slightest. With more tame ones, come up close and sit where they can choose to close the gap.

Ok ill try that on this batch, they hatch in 5 days. Thanks

HOW TO TRAIN THEM TO COME:
Use a call when you have treates to get their attention, like click your tongue 3 times. They wiwll learn that that call means food, and eventually they will just associate it with good feelings when they come to you.
