I have Ameraucanas.
We've culled for pure nasty & some when they took a dislike to DH. We had one which was a pure sweetheart & perfect for teaching children safety & how to handle birds, he was so laid back/trusting of people. (We've 9 grandchildren). On the plus side he was protective of the hens & a gentleman to them. We sold him last summer to a lady who was innately afraid of roosters & she loves him to bits. I think those birds are fairly rare & worth their weight in gold.
That being said, you can never really trust a rooster, especially around children, especially little ones - You never know when something will set the bird off & those little faces are just the right height for claws/spurs. Unfortunately, both children & roosters have to be trained to respect each other
