Best rooster breed with small children

D'Uccles. Hands down. I've had 3 male D'Uccle and they were all super gentle.
My current male can be approached and picked up with one hand and held every which way and he doesn't care in the least. An absolute charm with children and special needs individuals, this breed is.
are yours bantams? I love bantams....

Anyone got any advice on which breed of rooster is the best one around toddler age children. A mean rooster could hurt an 18 month old child. Any ideas on which breed would be least likely to get violent with children?

I've had many roosters of all different breeds. Some friendly, some aggressive, some protective, some scared of people. I would not trust any rooster around a toddler. Even if they are the nicest sweetest rooster ever – one day they may strike and your toddlers eyes are in a roosters striking range.

My LF Cochin does fine with my one leghorn. However she REALLY likes him.

I've had no issues with any Cochins being human aggressive unless handled, then a few of them bit. I culled all of them that showed any human aggression.
Love my Cochin too. He has never been aggressive unlike my old SLW Bantu or Barred Rock too. They attacked any chance they got. Gone!!

I have Ameraucanas.
We've culled for pure nasty & some when they took a dislike to DH. We had one which was a pure sweetheart & perfect for teaching children safety & how to handle birds, he was so laid back/trusting of people. (We've 9 grandchildren). On the plus side he was protective of the hens & a gentleman to them. We sold him last summer to a lady who was innately afraid of roosters & she loves him to bits. I think those birds are fairly rare & worth their weight in gold.

That being said, you can never really trust a rooster, especially around children, especially little ones - You never know when something will set the bird off & those little faces are just the right height for claws/spurs. Unfortunately, both children & roosters have to be trained to respect each other
