Best time to hatch eggs

When should I buy and hatch eggs? I'm in northern PA so winter is cold.

I have a lot of space inside and could put them in one of the guest rooms in my basement.

If I want the to lay sometime in the spring should I start now?

I live in Wisconsin and always hatch eggs or purchase chicks in March. I choose March so that I don't have to worry about the cold. I do know others hatch all year long.

Hey! It’s best if you wait for spring because the cockerels are more active in spring and summer so the chances of the eggs being fertile are a lot greater.

If you want them laying when everyone considering chicks, you usually want them born in october

Don’t do that.

You can hatch chicks whenever.
Doesn‘t change the fact that half will be roosters.

I think they mean just for the brooding period. Lots of people do that
