My 22 month old Buff Orpington Hen has vent gleet and sour crop, I believe. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out the best course of treatment.
* I have Fluconazole 200mg (1 tablet)
* Miconazole Nitrate Cream 2%
* Nystatin Ointment 100,000 units per gram
* Nystatin Cream 100,000 units per gram

I have called around to every poultry supply brick and mortar within an hour long one way trip and nobody carries acidified Copper Sulfate, which is what I wanted to use, so I'll order it. For now, what would you suggest I use to help my sweet girl. She's miserable and I missed the vent gleet for too long by chalking it up to a fluffy butt. Out of these options or any others that are easily attainable in a small town, which one do you suggest until I can get acidified Copper Sulfate?

I found wonderful article by @azygous but I'm still unsure because this started as vent gleet and progressed to sour crop. My first thought was an impacted crop because I feel contents and stuffs in her crop but it's not hard. It doesn't empty though and it seems to be a little on the tender side. I noticed her feathers under her vent were dirty again and that's when I started suspecting vent gleet which traveled through her digestive tract and caused sour crop. I have the Rx tablet because my inhaler caused an overgrowth of yeast in my esophagus and it was so painful to even swallow my saliva. I lost 13lbs in under a month. I hate to think this is what she's experiencing. That's why I want to tackle this full throttle.

I believe the information I read about Acidified Copper Sulfate by @TwoCrows . Do you have any suggestions as to which treatment between the Nystatin and Fluconazole will be the most aggressive for vent gleet turned to sour crop? I'm going to order Acidified Copper Sulfate now, but not sure best course of treatment until it arrives.

Systemic yeast infection is very challenging. Probably the copper sulfate in the drinking water is the way to go. You could also use the vaginal yeast cream on the vent after each cleaning. The vent must be kept clean of yeasty deposits.

Until the copper sulfate arrives, I would give the yeast cream orally. After the copper sulfate treatment begins, I would stop the oral miconazole but still smooth it onto the vent.

You will probably have to order the ACS, you can get it at Jeffers pet if you are having a hard time sourcing it.

I agree with @azygous I would give the Miconazole orally 2X day until you get the ACS, this will at least begin treating the yeast infection.

Is the Gal one that you've had issues with before? Any reproductive problems?

Thank you. This hen, Darla, hasn't experienced any significant health issues before. She is around my Marans Hen, Mally, only while free ranging a few hours a day. Mally is my chronic egg issues girl.

Hello again ladies! After lots of reading, I came up with another question. Is it dangerous to use Fluconazole (Diflucan) along with Miconazole? I'm looking for liquid Nystatin but if I still have it, it's definitely expired. Too bad the cream and/or ointment won't work. I did find ACS from a place that offers 1-2 day shipping (McMurray Hatchery). The shipping is expensive compared to the ACS, but that's out of any of our hands
